Here are the starting lineups for this Class 3A state tourney quarterfinal:

BENTON

Andrew Berger (5.7 PPG)

Tony Stenberg (8.7 PPG)

Zach Twedt (14.0 PPG)

Levi Montague (18.1 PPG)

Matt Petrezelka (7.6 PPG)

HARLAN

Jeff Hastert (9.6 PPG)

Michael Kaufmann (12.7 PPG)

Jeffrey White (6.8 PPG)

Luke Lansman (8.0 PPG)

Jacob Schaben (7.8 PPG)

We’re only a couple minutes from tipoff.

7:00: Free-throw line jumper from Hastert starts the scoring and gives Harlan a 2-0 lead.

It appears Harlan is playing a box-and-one defense on Benton’s leading scorer Levi Montague. It’s working, considering we’re four minutes in and Benton hasn’t scored yet. It’s 5-0 Harlan.

3:10: A corner 3 from Twedt finally has Benton on the scoreboard. It’s 8-3 Harlan.

2:15: Ethan Brown comes off the bench to drain a corner 3. It’s 8-6 Harlan.

It’s 11-6 Harlan after a quarter. Benton shooting 22 percent from the field to Harlan’s 30. A diamond-and-one defense on Montague and/or Twedt seems to effective for Harlan.

6:20: It’s 11-7 Harlan after a Stenberg free throw. Montague still doesn’t have a field-goal attempt.

5:00: Buckets by Hastert and reserve Brian Kloewer have given Harlan a 15-7 edge. Timeout Benton. Montague just took his first shot, a missed 3-pointer.

3:41: A Kaufmann steal makes it 17-7 Harlan. Twedt ends a 6-0 Cyclone run with a pair of free throws.

2:00: A Twedt steal and layup followed by a Berger 3 from the top of the key has sliced Harlan’s lead to 17-14. Benton has the ball.

A driving bank shot by Petrezelka at the horn for Benton makes it a 17-16 Harlan lead at the half. Combined 30-percent shooting and 33 points. Reminds me of the girls’ tournament last week.

6:25: Petrezelka scored off a turnover to give Benton its first lead, 18-17. A Schaben inside hoop gave Harlan the lead right back, and the teams have traded 3s from there. It’s 22-21 Harlan with a timeout.

4:30: Berger hits a 3 to give Benton the lead back, 24-22. Harlan appears to be playing a triangle-and-two defense on Montague and Twedt now.

2:48: It’s 27-26 Harlan after White hits a corner 3.

1:54: Hastert makes a free throw after a close blocking call goes against Benton. It’s 28-26 Cyclones.

1:00: Baughman and Stenberg trade 3s. It’s 31-29 Harlan.

Still 31-29 after three quarters. Montague, averaging 18 a game, hasn’t scored for Benton and has taken one shot. The Bobcats have five fouls this half to zero for Harlan. Could be key.

6:00: Schaben inside for 2. 33-29 Harlan.

3:35: Dangerous time for Benton. Harlan’s up 37-31 and has the ball. Montague just scored his first points for Benton on a turnaround from the baseline.

3:00: Hastert makes two free throws for Harlan. Stenberg comes back with a 3 for Benton. 39-34.

2:32: The fat lady is beginning to sing. Two more Hastert free throws and a Schaben transition hoop makes it 43-34 Harlan. Timeout BC.

1:14: It’s 44-36 Harlan.

:52: Berger FT makes its 44-37. But Baughman hits a pair for Harlan to make it 46-37.

:18.7: It’s 49-40 and the Benton student section is singing “Friends In Low Places.” This one’s over.

49-40 final. Harlan wins. 33.3-percent shooting for Benton. Montague held to 2 points.
