Winger Mike Seidel scored a goal in the first period of Saturday night’s Cedar Rapids RoughRiders-Omaha Lancers game in Council Bluffs to break the RoughRiders’ career franchise scoring mark.

Seidel has 139 points, one more than NHL prospect Teddy Purcell, though Purcell played two seasons in Cedar Rapids to Seidel’s three. It also was Seidel’s 50th career C.R. goal, his 19th this season.

“We’re very, very happy for Mike,” RoughRiders Coach Mark Carlson said in postgame comments on AM-1360 The Fan in Cedar Rapids.

By the way, the Riders rallied from two goals down early in the third period to beat Omaha, 5-4, on a Jeff Costello overtime goal. Quite a difference from Friday night, when the Riders ended Tri-City’s 19-game losing streak, 1-0 in overtime.
