Contract talks broke down between the Arizona Cardinals and the representative for quarterback Kurt Warner, making the C.R. native a free agent, as of midnight Eastern time.
The Arizona Republic reported the Cardinals were offering a two-year deal worth $20 million. ESPN said Warner wants “top five quarterback” cash of between $14 and $16 million a season.
All the “experts” I heard and read last night said the odds are Warner and the Cards will eventually come to some sort of agreement. Warner has said if he doesn’t sign a deal with Arizona, he will retire.
Don’t bet on that happening.

Ran into Buffalo Bills running back and former Coe College all-American Fred Jackson at tonight’s Coe-Cornell basketball double-header. Jackson was in town with his wife, Danielle, a Coe grad, and two young children to visit friends.
It’s awesome to see he’s the same old Freddy, and that being an NFL player (and one that got a chance to play quite a bit this season) has absolutely not gone to his head.
“It was exciting that I got to play a lot more (this season) than I did last year,” Jackson said. “I’m excited about that and seeing if we can keep moving forward and maybe my opportunities on the field can continue to expand.”
Jackson is a restricted free agent, of sorts, whose rights are owned right now by Buffalo. He said he and his agent have been in contact with Bills management about a possible multi-year contract.
